Dr. Oscar Perez is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, as well as board certified in addiction psychiatry from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, 1993-2003. He is licensed Texas and New Mexico and has been practicing in the Borderland of El Paso,TX since 1980.
Dr. Perez graduated from the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico in Mexico City. His postgraduate education in psychiatry was continued in psychiatric residency both at the University of Oklahoma HSC, Department of Psychiatry, as well as Baylor College of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry, in Houston, TX.
He is a current member of the American Psychiatric Association as a Distinguished Life Fellow and Hispanic Representative to the Assembly.
Furthermore, he is a member of the American Society of Hispanic Psychiatry, The Texas Society of Psychiatric Physicians, Senior Psychiatrist Society, the Southern Psychiatric Association, and the American Association for Social Psychiatry. At APA, he is a member of the Hispanic Caucus, American Indian Caucus, IMG Caucus, Global Mental Health Caucus, MOC issues Caucus, LGBTQ Caucus, Black Caucus, and Asian Caucus.
Dr. Perez specializes in adolescent and adult psychiatry, as well as substance abuse. He is president of Oscar Perez, MDPA, where he practices outpatient psychiatry and serves as the Medical Director of Rio Vista Behavioral Health in El Paso, TX.
